serbia a hub for sex change surgery

Due to both the controversy and high cost of sex-change surgery in many countries Serbia is becoming a hub for many in southeast Europe -- and even beyond -- seeking the procedure, reported the NY Times July 24. Almost 100 people, both Serbs and foreigners, had the surgery in the past year and came from as far away as France and the United States. While the surgery is subsidized for citizens, foreigners are also attracted to the price tag, which is substantially lower than in other countries
