Republican legislation that aimed to eliminate the contraception mandate has been sidelined for the time being, reported talking point memo July 24. The contraception repeal was a rider attached to legislation that would fund major government programs past September 30, the next budget deadline. That legislation was passed by a subcommittee and expected to proceed to the House Appropriations Committee, but at least for now, that won't happen. Party leaders are hoping to pass another stop-gap measure to fund the federal government beyond September, which would eliminate the need for the GOP bill
