NCAA HITS PENN STATE WITH FINE LOSS OF SCHOLARSHIPS AND WINS

The NCAA on July 22 announced that "corrective and punitive measures" against the Penn State football program would include stripping it of all wins from 1998 to 2011. The punishment comes in response to the program's role in the sexual abuse scandal involving former defensive coach Jerry Sandusky. "Football will never again be placed ahead of educating, nurturing and protecting young people," NCAA President Mark Emmert, said during a press conference, The Huffington post reported July 23. Other measures include a $60 million fine, a play-offs ban and loss of scholarships. The news came a day after the statue of Joe Paterno was removed from outside of Beaver Stadium on the Penn State campus
