Savannah Dietrich was charged with contempt after tweeting her rapists names, but the charge was withdrawn on July 23. The teenager from Louisville, KY, was sexually assaulted by two teenage males at a party last year. In June her attackers struck a plea bargain on charges of felony sexual abuse and misdemeanor voyeurism and the court had an ordered for Dietrich not to talk about it or risk facing 180 days in prison and a $500 fine. Dietrich ignored the warning and named her attackers on Twitter and subsequently her attackers’ lawyers, David Mejia and Chris Klein, moved to charge her with contempt. Pressure mounted as the case went public and a petition on change.org collected more than 50,000 signatures in a single day.
