rights groups ask judge to block arizona abortion law

The ACLU, the ACLU of Arizona and the Center for Reproductive Rights (CRR) asked a federal judge in court to block a law passed by the Arizona state legislature that prohibits abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy except in a narrow set of circumstances. The law is set to take effect on August 2, according to the AP. The ny times reported that exceptions are allowed if delay would cause death or the “irreversible impairment of a major bodily function.” Nancy Northup, president of the CRR, told the Times that it was a "radically limited health exception
